Essay Question: What Will It Take to Make A Future City?
Present a photo essay of six to eight slides/pages that include captions that tells the story of what it takes to develop and deliver a Future City entry.
What is a Photo Essay?
A photo essay is a series of photographs presented in a specific order that conveys a story. Captions are added to the photos to explain and enhance the story. It is a visual recounting of your team’s journey through the competition.

The Photo Essay is an option for the team and not a requirement.

The Photo Essay is judged separately and the outcome will not be included in any other scoring for Future City.

A registered team or team member must complete this assignment.

Your Photo Essay should include six to eight slides or pages.

Photographs and captions should work together to tell the story.

Your story should include a tale of all of the 5 deliverables.

Entry must be clearly identified by school and team name.

Use PowerPoint or a Word document to present your photo essay.

Photo Essay is due at the time the model is turned in to the Library.
Photo Essay Rules
Following are the rules for the Photography Essay Contest. These rules are designed to give as many teams as possible a chance to participate in the assignments.
Entry Location
Assignment entries can be submitted via email
photocontest@futurecityarizona.org and clearly identified by school and team name. Or you can deliver an entry on a CD to the Phoenix Main Library with your scale model on January 21, 2012.
Image Size
Individual images must be under 1MB in size in order to be accepted. Essay can be presented in either PowerPoint or Word format.
Digital Manipulation
Images can be cropped, sharpened, color adjusted, and other minor adjustments. Items may not be cloned out nor may backgrounds be changed.
Number of Entries
One essay entry per team.
Assignment Time Limits
Assignments run from the beginning of the present school year through the end of the Competition period. Assignment deadlines are 5PM Pacific time on January 21, 2012. Entries for the Photo Essay contest must have been taken during the 2011-2012 Competition period.
Copyright
By entering a photo in an assignment you certify that the image is yours and that you own the copyright of the photos. You further give permission for all photos entered to be used in accordance with the terms of the Future City Competition agreement.
Be careful about including anyone who is not a team member or would object to their image being used by the competition in press releases or competition marketing.
